The Powerball jackpot continues to grow but this time again, no ticket matched all six numbers in the Labor Day drawing. The jackpot now sits at $1.3 billion for Wednesday's drawing. If someone matches all five numbers and the Powerball, they can choose a one-time cash payment of $544.1 million. The Powerball jackpot jumped to a staggering $1.3 billion after there were no big winners in Monday night’s drawing – the fifth-largest prize in game history.

Each ticket requires you to select six numbers:
Five white balls numbered from 1 to 69. One red Powerball numbered from 1 to 26. For an extra $1, you can add the “Power Play” option, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or even 10X.
Don’t feel like choosing numbers yourself? Use the “Quick Pick” feature, where the computer randomly generates your numbers for you.
To win the Powerball jackpot, you must match all five white balls (in any order) plus the red Powerball.
Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night. If nobody hits the jackpot, the prize money keeps rolling over, creating even bigger payouts in the next drawing.
The prize is subject to taxes, which includes an automatic withholding tax of 24% levied against the winnings, and another 13% in federal taxes when you file your 2025 return.
There are also state taxes in some jurisdictions, which range from 2.9% to 10.9% depending on the state you live in. But players in California, Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington or Wyoming don't need to worry about such taxes.
No one has won Powerball's jackpot since May 31, 2025. If Monday does not produce a winner, the next drawing will occur on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
The new prize, based on the current estimation, is entering the top 10 of the largest jackpots in the U.S. March 2024's $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot will be bumped down.
