VENKATESH’S SANKRANTHIKI VASTHUNAM IS INCHING TOWARDS THE RS 175 CRORE MARK

Telugu cinema continues its streak of delivering successful films, and Venkatesh's Sankranthiki Vasthunam has emerged as the biggest hit of January, surpassing films like Ram Charan’s Game Changer and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Mahara.

Released strategically during the Pongal festival, Sankranthiki Vasthunam crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within six days and has now amassed a remarkable Rs 174.10 crore in 21 days. In its extended 10-day first week, the film earned Rs 137.30 crore, followed by another Rs 28.30 crore in its second week. During its third weekend, the film collected Rs 7.5 crore, while its third Monday collection stood at Rs 1 crore, taking the overall total to Rs 174.10 crore. Within the next few days, it is expected to cross the ₹175 crore mark.

In North America, a lucrative market for Telugu cinema, the film has crossed the US $2.8 million mark. Impressively, it entered the profit zone for its distributors by the fifth day, thanks to its relatively low acquisition cost and overwhelming audience response.

The film has become the highest-grossing opening for Venkatesh, who has been a mainstay in the industry for nearly four decades. Its success is attributed to its festive timing, engaging content, and star-studded cast, including Meenakshi Chaudhary, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Upendra Limaye.

Venkatesh will next be seen alongside his nephew Rana Daggubati as he reprises his role as Naga in the popular Netflix series Rana Naidu. Joining them in Season 2 will be Arjun Rampal, Kriti Kharbanda, and Surveen Chawla. The streaming giant released the first look of the new season on Monday evening.
