“The losses incurred during Covid had a very significant impact and washed away profits of the years before. We started our path to recovery in the 2nd half of the year 2022 and since then we demonstrated a solid and strong performance,” he said in a mail to employees, reviewed by Economic Times.

Pasricha added that they have a structure in place at IndiGo that takes care of annual bonuses for the various functions and roles in the company and this payout is on the basis of the actual operational and financial results of the company.

“From here we can start further building our future and obviously the recent momentous wide-body fleet announcement is a further testament to both our belief and commitment towards the future of the airline,” Pasricha added further.

It is worth mentioning here that IndiGo became the world’s third largest airline in terms of market capitalisation on April 10. It was the only Indian carrier in the top 3 with Delta Airlines and Ryanair being the most valued airlines globally.

Just last week, IndiGo placed an order for 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This was the low-cost carrier’s first order for wide-body aircraft. The airline also has purchase rights for another 70 planes, the delivery of which will begin from 2027.
