PF ACCOUNT NEWS: EPFO TO SOON CREDIT INTEREST INTO ACCOUNTS, HERE’S HOW TO CHECK YOUR BALANCE

PF Account News: In a major update for PF account holders, interest will soon be credited to the accounts of nearly 80 million members of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

The EPFO has directed all its regional offices to begin crediting interest to PF accounts at the rate of 8.25 per cent for the financial year 2025-26. The EPFO's Central Board of Trustees (CBT) approved this 8.25 per cent interest rate in March this year, and the Finance Ministry approved it in June. The process for transferring this money is now clear under Section 60(1) of the EPF scheme.

Previously, people had to wait months for their PF interest to arrive, as the old process was extremely slow. However, the EPFO recently completed a major software upgrade and database integration. This new system upgrade has significantly accelerated the transfer process, allowing interest payments to be deposited directly into members' accounts without delay.
