Shares of Federal Bank rose over 1% in early trade on Friday after the private sector lender announced that it had received its first international investment-grade issuer credit rating from S&P Global Ratings.
At 9:39 am, the stock was trading at Rs 331.40 on the NSE, up 1.11%.
In an exchange filing, the bank said S&P Global Ratings has assigned it an inaugural long-term issuer credit rating of BBB-/Stable and a short-term issuer credit rating of A-3.
"The assignment of the BBB- long-term issuer credit rating places Federal Bank in the global investment-grade category and marks an important milestone in the Bank's evolution. It is the first international issuer credit rating assigned to the Bank by S&P Global Ratings," the lender said.
According to the bank, the rating reflects "an independent assessment of Federal Bank's credit profile and underscores the strength of its franchise, disciplined risk management, sound capitalisation, diversified funding profile, liquidity position and consistent financial performance."
Commenting on the development, Federal Bank Managing Director and CEO KVS Manian said, "Our inaugural international investment-grade issuer rating from S&P Global Ratings is an important milestone for Federal Bank. It reflects the strength of our franchise, the resilience of our business model and the disciplined approach we have adopted towards growth, risk management and governance."
The bank said the investment-grade rating is expected to strengthen its visibility among global investors and international financial institutions while reinforcing confidence among customers, counterparties and other stakeholders.
