ALLU ARJUN'S 'PUSHPA 2' COULD DO 5 TIMES THE BUSINESS OF ITS PREQUEL: TRADE EXPERT
With Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa: The Rule' gearing up for a grand release on August 15, trade experts are predicting a solid business for the sequel. Speaking to IndiaToday.in, trade expert Ramesh Bala pointed out that sequels always rake in more than the original. He further added that if the film's content impresses the audience, it could do five times the business of 'Pushpa: The Rise'.Â
With a likely increase in budget and resources, 'Pushpa 2' is poised to deliver grand visuals and production values, further enhancing its appeal to audiences. Trade experts have been closely monitoring the buzz surrounding 'Pushpa 2' and are optimistic about its prospects at the box office.
According to their projections, 'Pushpa 2' is expected to surpass the commercial success of its sequel by a significant margin, potentially achieving five times more numbers. Factors such as increased brand recognition, heightened anticipation, and expanded market reach signal a promising future for the franchise.
Trade expert Ramesh Bala said, "On its opening day, 'Pushpa: The Rise' made Rs 44 crore in India nett and Rs 107.5 crore in three days. In Hindi, it earned Rs 125 crore, which no one had anticipated, but it did. So, 'Pushpa 2' will open and do business like 'KGF 2'. If you compare Yash's 'KGF 1' and 'KGF 2's' collection and 'Baahubali 1' and 'Baahubali 2's' collection, there is a major difference. The sequel always does five times the business of the original. If the content is as good as the prequel, we can expect good numbers. Budget for 'Pushpa 2' is high, so there is a possibility for the film to do very well theatrically. 'Puspha 2' is one film that everybody is waiting for."
He adds, "Based on what we have seen for 'Baahubali 2' and 'KGF 2', the Hindi market has huge potential. They did Rs 500 crore each in Hindi, so the potential is there. People are open-minded to watching South content. On paper, there is a good chance to do good numbers."
'Pushpa', directed by Sukumar and released in December 2021, captivated audiences with its gripping storyline, powerful performances, and breathtaking visuals. The film, centred around the life of a red sandalwood smuggler named Pushpa Raj, portrayed by Allu Arjun, garnered widespread acclaim and emerged as a commercial juggernaut at the box office. Its success not only elevated Allu Arjun's star status but also solidified his position as one of the leading heroes in the Indian film industry.
